2008 WPA Poetry Contest Information

The Washington Poets Association announces its 2008 Annual Poetry Contests. There are three contests this year. You may enter as many of them as you like.

Winners of the Bart Baxter Poetry Performance Contest

Bellingham-based poet Ryler Dustin won the 10th annual Bart Baxter Performance Poetry competition April 8th at the Richard Hugo House, taking home a check for $500. Daemond Arrindell was awarded second place and $300. Karen Finneyfrock took home third place and $100.

The event is an annual presentation of the Washington Poets Association to honor the state's performance poets.

The eight poets were chosen from all the applicants and had their work “judged on the page blindly” before being selected to perform on the stage.
