WPA Poetry Contests

The Washington Poets Association has a long tradition of running poetry contests, beginning in 1972. The following contests are currently sponsored by the WPA:

  • William Stafford Contest (any form)

  • Bart Baxter Poetry Performance Award (performance poetry)

  • Francine Porad Contest (haiku)

Note

The Carlin Aden Contest (for traditional rhyme and meter) and the Charlie Proctor Contest (for humorous poetry in any form) will not be held in 2008.
